Alton Towers has been evacuated after a ‘small’ but ‘contained’ fire broke out inside a toilet facility in the Forbidden Valley.
Reports of a fire as well as an evacuation of the popular Staffordshire theme park first emerged as guests took to social media.
One picture of a queue of customers at the Staffordshire attraction was captioned: ‘Alton Towers evacuating due to fire.’
Another video showed attendees being instructed to leave the Forbidden Valley area of the restort
One visitor took to X saying: ‘Never had a whole area of Alton Towers evacuated before! I’m confused as hell. I hope nothing too serious has happened.’
Others have complained saying the incident has sparked traffic chaos, with one visitor claiming the car park entrance has been closed.
They wrote: ‘We now can’t even leave the park through the car park entrance we want to despite walking 25minutes with two OAPs towards the Forbidden Valley.
‘No communication with customers, nobody blocking off routes. Shambles.’

An Alton Towers spokesperson has since confirmed a ‘small’ fire broke out in a block of toilets earlier today.
They said: ‘Earlier today, a small, contained fire was discovered by a colleague in a toilet facility within the Forbidden Valley area of the Resort.
‘Our team quickly put out the fire, and as a precaution, we temporarily evacuated the area while we established the cause.
‘We’d like to thank our guests for their cooperation. The safety and wellbeing of our guests and team members is always out top priority.
It is understood the area was closed for an hour as a precaution. The impacted toilet was not in use at the time of the incident.
The Daily Mail has approached Staffordshire Fire and Rescue for comment.
