A new Wendy’s restaurant is set to open in Merseyside
Wendy’s has teased the potential new opening date for its new Merseyside restaurant. The fast food chain first arrived in the UK in 2021 and has a total of 30 locations in England. Wendy’s opened as part of Liverpool ONE entertainment complex Gravity MAX in 2023. A year later, its first bricks and mortar site in Merseyside opened at the Academy Business Park, on County Road, Kirkby.
The menu at Wendy’s includes its signature square burgers and Frosty deserts. There are also breakfast sandwiches, sausage, egg and cheese croissant, spicy chicken nuggets, Caesar chicken salads and more.
Wendy’s confirmed in June 2025 that its first store in Wirral with a drive-thru restaurant will open at the Croft Retail Park in Bromborough. A series of units in the retail park were bought by Red Sun Projects last year.
The fast food chain’s latest social media posts suggests the Wirral restaurant could be open very soon.
The Instagram post, which features a square burger patty in front of Wallasey Town Hall, reads: “Wirral, ready to meet the square burger? Wirral – 1 Wasdale Way, Bromborough. 12th August.”

Part of the site was purchased by Gastronomy Properties for the creation of food outlets. Gastronomy will be operating a Wendy’s and a Starbucks under its UK franchise agreement.
Speaking last year, Nick Wightman, director at Redsun Projects, said: “We are pleased to deliver this high-quality development on time and in budget, a major testament to the design and construction team who brought our vision for this site to life.

“The exceptional standard of the scheme no doubt contributed to us securing such high-profile occupiers as the Starbucks and Wendy’s brands and Lok’nStore prior to the works being completed.
“We are already talking to businesses that are interested in taking space on the second and final phase on the site, which we hope to be on-site with shortly.”
Croft Retail Park is already home to several big name fast food chains including Five Guys, Subway, KFC and Burger King.
