Jet setters and holidaygoers were forced to leave the airport terminal.

Footage online showed crowds of people standing outside the front of the airport’s entrance, among buses and other vehicles.

A spokesperson for LBA, which is in Yeadon, confirmed the airport was evacuated, but passengers are now “back in the building and on their way” as it was a false alarm.

They said: “We had an evacuation of the terminal earlier today due to a fire alarm sounding.

“Thankfully, it was a false alarm.

“Passengers are now back in the building and on their way.”

There were some queues getting customers back into the building and through security.

But this was done with flight order priority to ensure minimal disruption.
