Birmingham City midfielder Paik Seung-ho has been described as ‘incredible’ by EFL pundit Ali Maxwell.
Birmingham City drew 1-1 at home to Ipswich Town in their first game of the new Championship season with Jay Stansfield getting their goal. BCFC stormed to the League One title in the last campaign and went up along with Wrexham and Charlton Athletic.

Paik, who is a South Korea international with 21 caps under his belt, played a key role behind their promotion from the third tier under the guidance of Chris Davies. He joined the Blues back in January 2024.
Speaking on the Not The Top 20 Podcast on YouTube, Maxwell has been full of the praise for the player and has said: “Do you know who I think is absolutely astounding? Paik Seung-ho in midfield for Birmingham. It’s not like I didn’t see him play last season, I guess it was because he was playing in the Championship against the team that we think should be challenging for the title. The appreciation of that performance and just his all-round game was wow, incredible really. Do you know what? Ipswich could really do with someone like that next to (Azor) Matusiwa, I know they’ve got (Jens) Cajuste to come in.”

What now for Birmingham City?
Birmingham City will be slightly disappointed that they weren’t able to beat Ipswich Town last time out. BCFC led until added-on time at the end before George Hirst struck from the penalty spot for the Tractor Boys.
The Blues will want to bounce back and return to winning ways against Sheffield United in the first round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night. They then return to league action at the weekend with an away trip to Ewood Park to face Blackburn Rovers.
Davies has the chance to bring in some more new faces before the end of the transfer window. The deadline is on Monday 1st September at 7pm.
