Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer news and rumours, including Leeds United’s latest signing and their pursuit of Leicester’s James Justin, plus an update on Bournemouth’s Luis Sinisterra.
Leeds have unveiled former Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin as the newest addition of Daniel Farke‘s squad.
The 28-year-old has been searching for a new club after leaving Everton when his contract expired at the end of last season.
Calvert-Lewin has now signed for the newly-promoted club on a free transfer, putting pen to paper on a three-year deal to keep him at Elland Road until 2028.
“I am really excited,” Calvert-Lewin said in an interview with LUTV. “It is like walking in today like a first day at school.
“I feel like a kid again that is just starting somewhere new and just can’t wait to play and represent the football club. For me, it is a massive football club with a massive fan base. I have played at Elland Road before, and I just remember thinking how loud the fans were and how good the fans were.
“It is something that I really, really wanted to be a part of. I also spoke with the manager prior to this, and we had a really good conversation, and he was a centre-forward himself.
“So, he was just explaining how the life of a centre forward is, and he gave me a feeling of a lot of understanding, and it made me really excited to work with him as well. And just the way that the team set up and the way that we set up last season was really attractive for me.”
Calvert-Lewin will be looking to revive his career after struggling with injury in his final few seasons as an Everton player.
The striker is at least a proven goalscorer at Premier League level, having scored 58 times in 239 top-flight appearances.
Leeds advancing in Justin pursuit
Sticking with Leeds, the newly-promoted side are reportedly making progress in their quest to sign Leicester City full-back James Justin.
The 27-year-old has made 168 competitive appearances since he joined the Foxes from Luton in the summer of 2019.
However, Justin now looks set to leave the Foxes following their relegation from the Premier League last season.
According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Leeds are currently in ‘advanced talks’ with Leicester over a deal for the defender.
The Leicester man has entered the final 12 months of his contract, so the Foxes will be open to selling him this summer rather than losing him on a free transfer at the end of the season.
Justin’s versatility could be useful for Leeds in their first season back in the Premier League, with the full-back capable of playing on the right and left side of defence.
Sinisterra to leave Bournemouth on loan
Meanwhile, Bournemouth are reportedly set to loan Luis Sinisterra to Brazilian side Cruzeiro.
The Colombia international was not part of Bournemouth’s matchday squad for Friday’s 4-2 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield.
Instead, the 26-year-old is set to try a new challenge in Brazil, with journalist Alex Crook reporting that the winger will join Cruzeiro on a loan deal.
Bournemouth are prepared to sanction Sinisterra’s departure after he was restricted to just 14 competitive appearances last season due to injury.
Sinisterra is not the only attacker set to leave Bournemouth in the coming days, with Dango Ouattara on the verge of completing a move to fellow Premier League side Brentford.
Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola will hope those departures will pave the way for crucial attacking reinforcements in the final few weeks of the summer transfer window.
