Both cars were stopped in Prestwich on Friday (August 15) by special constables out on patrol.

Officers said that neither car had a car seat in the vehicle and fined both drivers as well as adding penalty points to their licences.

They warned drivers to remember the correct car seat, and said a child’s safety should never be compromised.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said: “On Friday, our Special Constables stopped two separate vehicles where babies were being held on their mothers laps, with no car seat in the vehicle.

“Both drivers have been reported and will receive a fine & endorsements on their licence.

“A child’s safety should never be compromised — always use the correct car seat.”
