The body of a woman was recovered from a reservoir in Greater Manchester yesterday.

Emergency services attended Strinesdale Reservoir, situated on the A62 between Oldham and Delph, at around 4pm after reports of a woman ‘getting into difficulty’ in the water.

A rescue operation was launched with the area, off Waterworks Road, being sealed off.

Sadly, a woman’s body was later recovered, at around 6.25pm, Greater Manchester Police confirmed in an update shared this morning (Monday).

“Emergency services responded to an incident at Strinesdale Reservoir at around 4:50pm yesterday (Sunday 17 August 2025) after reports of a woman getting into difficulty in the water,” a force spokesperson said.

“Sadly, the body of a woman was recovered.

“There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death.”

No further details about the woman or the circumstances have yet been disclosed.
