The team behind a popular Thai restaurant is set to open a third venue in Bristol next month. Mangosteen first opened its doors two years ago in the space previously occupied by Pasta Loco on Cotham Hill.
Founded in 2023 by Kedar Subedi and the team behind Indian and Chinese restaurant RockSalt, Mangosteen serves up authentic Thai dishes across two sites – both the original Cotham Hill venue and its North Street location. Next month it will open up restaurant number three on Gloucester Road.
The brand’s biggest site to date, Mangosteen’s Gloucester Road venue will be at number 187, the previous home of Saab Indian Dining. It will open on Tuesday, September 2, with opening hours running from 4pm-10.45pm Tuesday to Thursday, 1-10.45pm Friday and Saturday, and 1pm-9.45pm on Sundays.
Operations manager Loki Stokes said: “Bristol as a city is well-characterised by Gloucester Road – it’s a colourful, busy, lively part of town, just as Bristol is. That also felt like a good match for Mangosteen.
“There is a lot of foot traffic, and we always look to seat walk-ins and big groups, and having a bigger site is going to allow us to bring the Mangosteen experience to more people who might not have visited our other two sites before.”
He went on to say: “Some of our favourite restaurants as a team are on Gloucester Road, and some of our favourite late-night spots are on the street. We are excited for the after-work nights-out, and to open up in a beautiful part of Bristol, a part of Bristol which is home for many of our staff and customers.”
Since the first Mangosteen opened in 2023, it has quickly become one of the top reviewed restaurants in Bristol, both for dine-in customers and those ordering on Deliveroo.
