Following its release on PC on Steam Early Access in 2024, Ubisoft’s The Rogue Prince of Persia is releasing today on console, including through Xbox Game Pass.
Ubisoft announced this during the Xbox Gamescom livestream today. The game is launching for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Xbox Cloud, and PS5. It’s coming to Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 later this year.
The debut of The Rogue Prince of Persia on console coincides with the game’s 1.0 release, which also lands today, August 20. “After more than a year of early access, over 15 major updates integrating community feedback, an entirely reworked art direction and changed color palette, a variety of new biomes, weapons and trinkets as well as an enriched metaprogression, the game has reached its final form for all players to enjoy,” Ubisoft said.
The Rogue Prince of Persia is developed by Evil Empire (which worked on Dead Cells) and published by Ubisoft. GameSpot’s Steam Early Access review of The Rogue Prince of Persia scored the game an 8/10.
The Rogue Prince of Persia takes place in the city of Ctesiphon, and it casts the player as a new prince who foolishly provoked the Hun army. In response, the Hun chief, Nogai, has sent his possessed soldiers into Ctesiphon to destroy it. Now, the prince has to defend his city and use a mystical artifact to time travel and prevent himself from being permanently killed by his enemies.
Other games coming to Game Pass in August include Gears of War: Reloaded, Persona 4: Golden, Void/Breaker, and Dragon Age: The Veilguard, among others.
