HEY TRU BLUE – 4.45pm York
It was obviously a bit disappointing to come up against soft ground at Goodwood when he really wants quicker conditions, but we learned a lot from that run. He’s not going to be with us much longer as he’s heading to Australia soon, and the team were happy to give him another spin here before he goes.
The slicker surface and the sharper track at York should suit him down to the ground. He’s a progressive horse, and I think he’s well handicapped off 86. He’s drawn in stall three, which is ideal, and I think he can give a really good account of himself.

THURSDAY
NEWCASTLE
OLIVER SHOW – 7.15pm Newcastle
He just didn’t fire at all at Ascot last time, so we’re happy to put a line through that run. He’s a course-and-distance winner and we know the style of racing at the Racing League suits him. The blinkers go on for the first time, which should help. He can wander a bit late on so hopefully the headgear just sharpens him up. He has got a reasonable draw, so there are no excuses. If he’s on a good day, he’ll run very well.
UNASSUMING – 8.15pm Newcastle
She has been really progressive this year and deserves a shot at a decent prize like this. She’s training as well as she has all season and I’m really happy with where she’s at going into this. I think she’s in super shape.
George’s York Big Race thoughts 🗣️
The Yorkshire Oaks (3.35pm) is a disappointing field with dual Oaks heroine Minnie Hauk a tough nut to crack but I’m hoping George Scott’s Staya can win the opening race, the Lowther Stakes (1.50pm). She is experienced and has plenty of class. The favourite is Royal Fixation, who I think was slightly flattered at Newmarket and I think York could be a bit sharp for her.
