Real Madrid are reportedly determined to sign Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Hugo Larsson during next summer’s transfer window.
Real Madrid are reportedly determined to sign Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Hugo Larsson in the summer of 2026, but the capital giants will face intense competition for his signature.
The 21-year-old made the move to Frankfurt from Malmo in 2023, and he has represented his current side on 86 occasions in all competitions, scoring eight goals and registering five assists in the process.
Last season, Larsson scored six goals and registered two assists in 47 appearances in all competitions, including three goals in 11 outings in the Europa League.
Arsenal and Manchester City are among the clubs to be credited with an interest in the Sweden international, but according to Fichajes, Real Madrid are determined to win the race for his signature.
The report claims that Real Madrid’s chief scout Juni Calafat has been tracking Larsson’s progress, and a move for the midfielder during next summer’s transfer window is now being planned.
Real Madrid ‘planning 2026 move’ for Frankfurt’s Larsson
Los Blancos head coach Xabi Alonso is also believed to be a huge fan, having watched him closely in Germany, and the Spaniard allegedly feels that Larsson would bring balance and energy to the midfield.
Larsson is valued at €40m (£35m) by Transfermarkt, but it is likely that Real Madrid would have to pay much more than that to sign him next year, especially if the midfielder has another strong campaign.
The Swede has already featured once for Frankfurt during the 2025-26 campaign, providing an assist in his side’s 5-0 victory over FV Engers 07 in their first-round German Cup clash on August 17.
It is understood that teams have been looking at Larsson this summer as a potential signing, but it is much more likely that he will be on the move at the end of the current campaign.
Real Madrid are currently short in central midfield
Luka Modric’s exit has left Real Madrid short in the middle of midfield, especially with Jude Bellingham currently on the sidelines recovering from a shoulder operation.
Eduardo Camavinga also missed out against Osasuna on Tuesday through injury, with Federico Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni being joined in central midfield by Arda Guler.
Dani Ceballos is another option in that position, but the Spaniard is being linked with an exit before the end of the transfer window, and there is no question that it is currently a concerning area in the Los Blancos side.
