vivo’s Vision Explorer Edition mixed reality headset made its official debut in China today. It’s the first MR headset from the company and is likely to be a China exclusive for now. Pricing and availability details haven’t been disclosed yet.

The vivo Vision Explorer Edition headset features a compact and light design. It weighs 398g and measures 83mm in height, while being 40mm thick. It gets a mirror finish front visor with a bunch of cameras and sensors for tracking.

Users can switch between four light-blocking shields that feature foam padding. The headset will be available with two different straps, one designed for comfort and the other for added stability. Vivo’s new MR headset does share some resemblance with its competitor, the Apple Vision Pro.

It gets dual 8K Micro-OLED binocular displays that offer 3840 x 3552 pixels resolution each. The displays are said to cover 94 percent of the DCI-P3 color gamut. The headset also offers diopter support with magnetic lenses.

The displays are claimed to provide a 180 degree view with support for spatial audio. It offers a 120-inch screen and supports hand gestures along with eye tracking for easy navigation.

vivo Vision Explorer Edition is powered by the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 SoC and runs OriginOS Vision out of the box. It also comes with the Blue Ocean power management system by vivo that is said to extend battery life.






It supports full-color passthrough with 13ms latency, spatial video playback, and MR/PCVR gaming titles. While vivo hasn’t given out pricing or availability details, interested users can try out the headset at 12 vivo experience zones in China starting August 22.
