Connected Nation Internet Exchange Points (CNIXP), in partnership with Wichita State University, will host a free summit on Thursday, September 11, to explore the role of internet infrastructure in the emerging AI economy.

The event will take place at the NetApp Building on WSU’s Innovation Campus, 1850 Innovation Blvd., from 1 to 4:30 p.m., with registration beginning at 12:30 p.m.

Speakers will include Romaine Redman, Chief Innovation Officer for the Kansas Department of Commerce; Wichita Mayor Lily Wu; WSU President Richard Muma; and leaders from CNIXP, along with national and international experts in internet connectivity.

Organizers say the summit will highlight how interconnection infrastructure can reduce network latency, lower costs, and improve connectivity across key sectors such as business, education, and healthcare. Attendees will also learn how the new Wichita Internet Exchange Point (IXP) can drive innovation, strengthen economic competitiveness, and expand digital access.

The initiative is being promoted as a model for other communities and states aiming to stay competitive in an AI-driven future.
