AEW/WWE
A major update has emerged regarding Chris Jericho potentially departing AEW in order to return to WWE.
Chris Jericho has been absent from AEW programming since April, and with his contract with the company reportedly set to expire towards the end of 2025, there has been plenty speculation regarding a potential return to WWE.
Earlier this week it was spotted that Jericho had liked a post on Instagram regarding his expiring AEW contract and potentially moving to WWE when it was up. Then, in a follow-up report on his status, it was revealed that there had been “lots of talk” within WWE regarding Jericho potentially coming back.
On the latest episode of WrestleVotes Radio it was reported that there is in fact “significant interest” from within WWE, including from active talent, in bringing Jericho back to the company:
“We can confirm, after speaking to our sources, that there is significant interest in Chris Jericho coming back to the WWE once his AEW contract would allow him to do so.”
“We’re told that several within the WWE, including Active talent, would like to see him return to the company.”
While Jericho had long publicly shot down the idea of a WWE return until recently, WrestleVotes noted that he has “remained friendly” with many people inside WWE and a deal for his return is expected to be completed when Jericho is legally able to do so:
“Despite spending the last six years with AEW, Jericho has remained friendly with a number of people inside WWE, we are told, and according to that source, they ultimately do expect a deal to be completed once Chris is legally able to do so.”
Jericho was All Elite Wrestling’s marquee signing upon the company’s inception in 2019, becoming the inaugural AEW World Champion at the company’s All Out 2019 pay-per-view.
Jericho spent the better part of two decades with WWE across several different runs, making his debut in 1999 and wrestling his last match for the company in April 2018.
During his time in WWE he captured almost every championship available to him, including six world championships.
We will provide further updates on Jericho’s future as more information becomes available.
