Winner of 10 Tony awards including Best Musical, Best Director, and Best Choreography, Baz Luhrmann‘s revolutionary film comes to life onstage, remixed in a new musical mash-up extravaganza. A celebration of truth, beauty, freedom and – above all – love, Moulin Rouge! is more than a musical; it is a state of mind.

Satine and Christian’s love story travels major ups and downs, as the Moulin Rouge’s destiny hangs in the balance. With the constant fear of being back out on the street, Satine must be the leading lady she’s always been to win over the Duke, securing the club’s future – but at what cost? Moulin Rouge! tells the heart-wrenching story of Paris’ underworld, and you’ll most definitely go from rip-roaring cheers and high glamour, to mourning the harsh reality, all whilst trying to find true love.

Iconic tunes brought together by the legendary Baz Luhrmann for the 2001 film make a welcome return to the stage musical, including Lady Marmalade, Your Song and Come What May, alongside some surprising yet fitting modern releases, making Moulin Rouge! The Musical a heady combination of old and new.

Leads Verity Thompson (Satine) and Josh Rose (Christian) propel the heartfelt story with such force that it’s impossible to believe they’re acting at all. The chemistry is palpable, with Thompson providing a leading lady performance that is as close to perfect as you can get. From Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend to Katy Perry’s Firework, you never know where she’ll go next, but every destination is absolutely divine, moving the plot along with a gorgeous flourish.

Supporting characters are the backbone of Moulin Rouge!, too, with the likes of Harold (Cameron Blakely), Toulouse (Kurt Kansley), Santiago (Rodrigo Negrini) and Nini (Kahlia Davis) becoming integral to the performance. Each is fleshed out perfectly, creating a personal connection that makes each twist and turn so emotional, and of course, their talent is second-to-none.

James Bryers puts on a stellar villainous performance as the Duke, and the ensemble cast – particularly the dancers – provide a necessary community for the leads to fall back on, and the incredible set design spares absolutely no expense, all coming together to make you feel like you’re really in the famous Moulin Rouge windmill.
