Queen Camilla says she and King Charles III are battling a “terrible” issue this summer.

On August 21, the 78-year-old Queen was on a solo visit to the Ebor Festival in York, per Hello Magazine where she revealed that she and her husband are dealing with a “terrible” wasp infestation at King Charles’s Norfolk estate.

Camilla shared the update to Harry and Seline Silk, of Knavesmire Nectar, also revealing that her bees at her private home in Wiltshire have been giving her trouble because of the way they are swarming.

Camilla and Charles have been enjoying a quiet summer at the family’s Balmoral estate in Scotland and may even be avoiding Sandringham Estate in Norfolk due to the wasp issue. According to Hello, on 18 August, the King issued a warning to visitors of the royal residence, informing them of an ongoing wasp infestation on the grounds.

“Please be aware that wasp activity is currently high in this area. Thank you,” a notice on the site read. A beekeeper was also photographed on the estate in a full sting-proof suit, presumably on site to manage the wasp population.

Charles and Camilla are avid beekeepers. Charles’ bees at his Highgrove residence produce a ‘Royal Garden Honey’ that can be purchased from the Highgrove Gardens website. The king also keeps beehives at Clarence House and Buckingham Palace.

The King’s daughter-in-law, Kate Middleton, also revealed her beekeeping hobby in 2021 when she brought a jar of honey from her beehives while visiting children at the Natural History Museum in South Kensington.
