LONDON, Ohio — Fueled by coffee, a long-held dream, and the guidance of Crimson Cup Coffee & Tea’s 7 Steps to Success program, The Nook Coffee Bar has opened in downtown London, Ohio, serving specialty coffee drinks in a community-focused space.

The Nook held its grand opening in July to a strong community turnout, offering 22 signature drinks including its signature iced beverage — the Nook Mocha.

Owners Shannon and Jenn Moore launched the shop to create a community gathering place focused on quality drinks and heartfelt service. Opening The Nook had been Jenn’s longtime dream. Shannon, who serves on active duty at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, supported the vision and played a vital role in bringing it to life.

“It’s been my dream for 25 years while we’ve been serving in the Air Force and moving every two to three years,” Jenn Moore said. “We’re overwhelmed by the community support and have loved working with Crimson Cup to make this dream a reality.”

Crimson Cup’s 7 Steps Program Supports Independent Owners

The Moores maintained full ownership and creative control by turning to Columbus-based Crimson Cup Coffee & Tea. The company’s 7 Steps to Success program has helped launch more than 300 independent coffee shops in 37 states.

Based on Seven Steps to Success: A Common-sense Guide to Succeed in Specialty Coffee by Crimson Cup founder Greg Ubert, the program guides entrepreneurs through site selection, business planning, barista training, shop layout, product sourcing and ongoing operations support.

Heather Syx, a 7 Steps customer growth manager, provided weekly startup coaching. Steve Bayless, a 7 Steps project manager and trainer, led the on-site training week for baristas and managers.

“The wisdom Heather Syx and Steve Bayless have shared is totally priceless,” Jenn Moore said. “Good people — and the best coffee!”

“Our baristas loved Steve so much during our training that they made a countdown to see him again at the grand opening,” Jenn Moore said.

The couple said they’ve been overwhelmed by the support from the London community in their first weeks of business.

The Nook is open seven days a week at 25 S. Main St. in London, Ohio.
