A Birmingham restaurant has received a five-star review after a diner claimed they visited on ‘palace recommendation’.

A TripAdvisor user called Ju5t_sayin gave The Indian Streatery on Bennetts Hill top marks claiming they dined ‘by royal approval’.

They visited the Indian street food spot and wrote up their review on Wednesday, August 20.

While the claim of royal approval might seem far fetched at first glance, we do know for certain that the Prince and Princess of Wales have been to the Indian street food spot.

William and Kate stopped by the independent venue in 2023 to have a go at cooking during a visit to the city.

Perhaps the royal pair recommended the restaurant to the reviewer who says the suggestion came because of their ‘line of work’, though it wasn’t clear what that was.

They wrote: “An excellent experience from start to finish. Impeccable table service – eg absolutely no need to ask for water for the table as this arrived within a minute of us sitting down; water bottle replenished without us needing to ask; and bill delivered with appropriate speed (no hanging about for ages like almost all U.K. restaurants).

“Being in my line of work, I was recommended Indian Streatery by a palace source.

“The family ethos of the business is what we admired and the range of dishes with some fabulous twists on classics.

“Our group appreciated the cocktails as we waited for the plates to arrive.

“All dishes were excellent but clear favourites were the Cannon Hill Park Picnic and Pakora Chaat!

“Once again, praise to the serving staff who really made us feel welcome.”
