Andhra Pradesh’s capital, Amaravati, is all set to host one of the biggest cricket stadiums in India. The Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) has prepared the plan on a fast track to ensure the Amaravati stadium will be the most sought-after international stadium.

The ACA Honorary Secretary and Rajya Sabha member Sana Satish revealed that the association has requested the Andhra Pradesh government to allocate 40 acres of land in the core region of Amaravati. The ACA is determined to make the stadium one of the best international stadiums in India to attract international matches to Andhra Pradesh.

To be built with an estimated budget of Rs.300 crore, the stadium will host over 60,000 spectators and will feature world-class infrastructure. The multi-event stadium will be operational throughout the year. The ACA has plans to develop cricket grounds in all the districts of the state in the next three years.

Andhra Pradesh has cricket stadiums in Mangalagiri, Mulapadu (Vijayawada), Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, and Ananthapuram. Plans are on to develop big stadiums in Tirupati, Nellore, and Kurnool in the first phase to encourage local and aspiring cricketers. The 17-year-old IPL stadium in Vizag recently underwent renovation. Impressed by the enhanced infrastructure, the BCCI granted five women’s world cup matches to Vizag stadium.
