Wrexham’s game against Sheffield Wednesday was another disappointing result, but it was another one with plenty of positives to take for Phil Parkinson’s side.
From the opening three Championship games of the season, Wrexham have taken just one point.
Saturday’s game against the Owls was another tough one, with Wrexham drawing 2-2 against Sheffield Wednesday in the end, despite having had the 2-0 lead at half-time.
Kieffer Moore scored his first two Wrexham goals in the first half before the Owls mounted a strong second-half comeback with Bailey Cadamarteri and Barry Bannan scoring.
Whilst it’s a point on the board, it’s arguably too missed for Phil Parkinson’s side, and expect the Dragons boss to be frustrated at another lost opportunity.

Right now, Parkinson has a very bloated midfield. Earlier in the summer, Wrexham signed Lewis O’Brien in a £3m deal from Nottingham Forest. And there is also the likes of Ollie Rathbone to come back from injury, along with summer signing George Thomason.
So far this season though, Parkinson has stuck with a midfield three of O’Brien, Matty James and George Dobson. And in the game against Wednesday at the Racecourse, Dobson shone. The 27-year-old put in a very energetic, box-to-box performance, looking sharp throughout. The Englishman kept his passing tight and got involved in the 50-50s, winning an impressive seven duels, with six of those being ground duels.
Dobson also won three tackles with an impressive 10 defensive actions, which was the third most of any Wrexham player on the day.
Does George Dobson start for Wrexham when all midfielders are fit?
Given the fact that Parkinson has so many midfield options right now, when he has a full-strength midfield, whether or not Dobson keeps his spot remains to be seen, but if he keeps on playing like he did against Sheffield Wednesday then he’ll no doubt keep his spot, along with O’Brien.
It could well be James who makes way, though he too had a solid game against Wednesday, providing a bit more physicality than probably O’Brien and Dobson does. But last season’s player of the season, Rathbone, will surely be knocking on the door, along with Thomason, and then there’s also Elliot Lee to consider too.
Recent reports though have suggested how Lee could be sold by Wrexham this summer, and if Parkinson signs yet another midfielder then it might push Lee and maybe one or two others towards the exit door.
The likes of Andy Cannon and George Evans seem well out of contention, and so Wrexham could do some squad clearing before the summer transfer window shuts on September 1st.
Up next for the Dragons is a game against Preston North End in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.
