Bruce Raymond, the Group 1-winning jockey turned racing manager to the likes of this week’s City of York-winning owner Saeed Suhail, has died of cancer at the age of 82.

Raymond, who won in the region of 2,000 races in a three decade-long career, finally retired from the saddle at the age of 51 and was widely regarded as the best jockey to ride in Britain without winning a British Classic.
