News and Info from Deeside, Flintshire, North Wales

Transport for Wales (TfW) is encouraging people to explore the Wales Coast Path by train as part of its ‘Rail to Trail’ campaign.

The initiative, first launched in 2022 to mark the 10th anniversary of the Coast Path, highlights how walkers and cyclists can access the route from railway stations across the Wales and Borders network, from Flint in the north to Tenby in the west.

The Wales Coast Path runs for 1,000 miles around the country, offering the chance to walk the entire perimeter of Wales and take in its varied landscapes.

As well as providing information on routes and nearby stations, the Rail to Trail website allows visitors to plan both their train journeys and walking programmes to suit individual needs.

Cabinet Secretary for Transport and North Wales, Ken Skates, said:

“People aren’t always aware that many of our railway stations act as convenient gateways to famous national trails and walking routes in Wales. This is a brilliant campaign that promotes our rail network as a means of accessing our incredible coastal path. So, why not leave your car at home, jump on a train, get your walking boots and rucksack on and go out and explore.”
