Trigger warning: This article contains mention of depression.
Claudine Barretto took to social media to share her recent hospitalization due to depression.
On Instagram, the veteran actress shared a reel of herself in a hospital room, beginning with a long embrace with a doctor, followed by a clip of her lying down on a hospital bed with her son Noah, taking care of her.
“Yes, this is what depression looks like, so please don’t judge,” she wrote. “We all need more understanding and compassion.”
In the comment section, celebrities including Vilma Santos, Vina Morales, Small Laude, and Cristalle Belo, said comforting words.
“Sis, love and hugs for you. Will pray for you,” Vina commented.
“Hi, my dearest baby Claude. We are all here loving you. Dito lang kami para sa’yo,” Vilma wrote.
Depression is defined as a serious mental health illness that has an overpowering effect on the way a person feels, thinks, and acts and causes immense sadness and loss of interest in activities once enjoyed.
In 2018, Claudine opened up about having been diagnosed with panic disorder in 2022, which was the result of stress from work and the death of her then-boyfriend, the late Rico Yan.
