Maintaining a regular laundry routine is undoubtedly one of the most monotonous household chores. Regardless of how often you try to keep on top of it, there always seem to be more towels to wash, sheets to fold and clothes to iron.
The most frustrating part is when your freshly washed clothes and towels lose their just-washed scent within a day or two, especially if they’ve been folded or hung up. It can make all your hard work feel pointless, missing out on the reward of that fresh and delightful aroma after tackling the task of laundry.
However, there’s a budget-friendly trick for beautifully scented laundry that lasts long after you’ve put it away.
Without the luxury of a tumble dryer at home, it’s vital to use the right products to avoid that musty laundry smell, reports the Mirror.
The publication found one product that has outperformed the rest.
Dr Beckmann’s fabric conditioner sheets are all you need for fresh-smelling clothes and towels, particularly if you’re drying your clothes indoors. Since trying them out, reporter Nicola Roy said she has been amazed by how wonderful each load has ended up smelling, and they couldn’t be easier to use.

Available in two lovely fragrances – fresh blossom and fresh breeze – the moment you open the packet, you’re greeted with these impressively strong scents.
Simply add a sheet into the washing machine drum along with your regular detergent, and there’s no need for fabric conditioner – then proceed with your usual wash.
Once your laundry is hung up to dry, your entire house will be filled with a lovely scent. Even better, these fragrances last for a week or even longer, which is quite rare, especially with towels.
There’s no sticky residue either, as the sheets dissolve directly in the drum. Nicola said she was hoping that after a few more washes, they’ll begin to soften her towels – but if not, there are other ways to achieve this, such as adding white vinegar to your laundry loads.
The Dr Beckmann fabric conditioner sheets can be purchased for £3 from Sainsbury’s if you have a Nectar card, or they’re available for £2.50 from Waitrose.
