Jennie Garth was once mistakenly told she was pregnant during her teenage years.

The actress, 53, was sharing the mic on the latest episode of her podcast I Choose Me with her youngest daughter Fiona, 18, who will soon be going to college

During a question and answer session, one fan wanted to know how to talk to her own daughter about birth control.

That’s when the Beverly Hills 90210 actress shared her own ‘terrible/funny/awkward/terrible story.’

The Bad Influence star revealed she and her mom had gone together to a sexual health clinic, ‘to go on birth control because I had irregular periods.’

But that wasn’t the whole truth. ‘I had a boyfriend, and I just wanted to be safe,’ she explained. ‘I didn’t want to have a baby without being ready for it. So we went in, and the appointment was to explore birth control options.’

However, Garth’s ruse was quickly discovered when she got a shocking diagnosis. ‘Well, you’re pregnant,’ the clinician told them when she returned to the room with what they believed were the results of Garth’s urine test.

‘I was like, “What?” And then all of a sudden, like, the cat was out of the bag.’

‘Was the boyfriend my dad?,’ Fiona asked. She is the youngest of three daughters the TV Guide Award winner shares with ex-husband Peter Facinelli, 51. ‘No, it was before your dad,’ Garth assured her.

However, she was mortified at having to tell her mother the truth. ‘I was instantly just, like, red all over. I was hot, like, sweaty. Like, I didn’t know what to do,’ Garth said of her panic and confusion.

‘Because I had — in that moment — to be honest with my mom, in the most uncomfortable situation, about the fact that I had already had sex and that I had been lying to her about it.’

The QVC star said she felt being caught in a lie ‘was a lot more traumatic and dramatic than if I had just gone to her and talked to her about it, I think.’

‘I, too, was really scared to talk to my mom about [having sex] to the point where I actually lied and hid the truth from her.’

‘So cut to me and my mom having this emotional, like, breakdown, and they left the room. It was just me and my mom and, like, truth time.’

When the doctor returned to the room, Garth’s panic was eased when she was told, ‘”Oh, oops. That was not your pee. That was someone else’s pee.”‘

Garth said she was ‘furious’ at the time, but implied it was a learning lesson for her and her children.

‘It’s important to open up the channels of discussion … there’s nothing you shouldn’t talk to your mom about,’ she told Fiona and her listeners.

‘There’s no shame around it,’ she said regarding the decision to have sex.
