Liverpool will be hit with rain for large parts of the last day of the Easter weekend. Rain arrived overnight after a sunny Easter Sunday where temperatures reached 16C.

But the nice weather hasn’t lasted, with rain expected to stay in the region until the evening and temperatures reaching highs of 12C, the Met Office forecasts.

The national weather forecaster expects heavy rain throughout the morning, with the heaviest spell expected around 10am before the wet weather begins to ease as the day goes on.

Sunny spells should appear around 2pm, with spells of rain continuing until 6pm when it is expected to become dry heading into the night.

The Met Office said on its website: “Easter Monday will be a cloudier day, with outbreaks of rain moving north-eastwards across all parts. Rain clearing by evening, with bright or clear spells following.

“Temperatures near normal, with light winds. Maximum temperature 12C.”

It continued: “Dry overnight with clear spells, a few mist and fog patches forming across parts of Cumbria.

“Chillier than the Sunday night, with a rural grass frost possible. Minimum temperature 2 C.”

Tuesday is expected to be a much nicer day with sunny spells throughout the morning before cloud returns after midday with temperatures reaching 15C.

Rain is expected to return heading into the night, with a chance of rain on Wednesday.

The Met Office said on its website: “Early rain soon clearing to leave a mixture of sunny spells and showers on Wednesday.

“Becoming increasingly dry and bright from Thursday as high pressure develops. Temperatures near normal.”

Easter Weekend saw plenty of sun on Easter Sunday after a dismal Friday and Saturday with plenty of rain.
