Birmingham City have two ex-Celtic players in their squad at the moment.

Tomoki Iwata has been with the Blues since last August and has been a roaring success, something that wasn’t the case during his time at the Hoops.

Iwata scored eight goals in 47 games last season as Birmingham won the EFL League One title, and new signing Kyogo Furuhashi has bolstered their squad for the Championship.

Kyogo moved to Birmingham from Stade Rennais and has one goal in five appearances thus far. And another Celtic star could be joining the Japanese pair.

It is being reported by Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph that Birmingham have made an approach to sign Yang from Celtic.

The Hoops are said to be thinking about whether to sell or not, with talks between the two clubs set to continue.

Birmingham want to sign the winger permanently as Celtic have just five days left to green-light a deal if they choose to offload.

Yang has been given plenty of opportunities in a Celtic shirt and has been good at making an impact off the bench as a substitute.

But he fails to deliver as a starter and disappointed against Kairat Almaty on Wednesday night in the Champions League play-off second leg.

The Hoops would need to replace Yang

Celtic are already short on wingers having sold Nicolas Kuhn and Marco Tilio, while losing Jota to a long-term injury in April.

Michel-Ange Balikwisha is on the way from Royal Antwerp, with Celtic also trying to sign Hammarby star Sebastian Tounetki.

Celtic fans would not mind at all if Yang was sold, but the Bhoys need to ensure they get a replacement in before Monday’s transfer deadline.

That could mean three new wingers signed between now and September 1, with a striker and left-back also required.
