The fire service has issued an update on the wildfire at Clydach Dingle that has been raging for weeks as crews remain at the scene. A number of crews in the surrounding area were called to the grass fire that residents say has been burning for three weeks.
With the fire still raging today, August 27, South Wales Fire and Rescue Service has established a multi-agency strategic command group to help tackle the blaze. According to the service the fire has spread over 70 hectares as teams from Tredegar, Maesteg, Tonypandy, Brynmawr and Ebbw Vale attend the scene.
Whilst there is no immediate risk to life or properties, residents in the affected areas have been advised to keep doors and windows closed as a precaution against smoke exposure.
