A new restaurant is opening its doors in Hamilton and will be welcoming its first customers with free meals and half-price dining.

Italian eaterie Sofia by Santa Lucia opens on Almada Street on Thursday, August 28, becoming the fourth restaurant in the family-run Santa Lucia group which also includes existing venues in Glasgow’s Merchant City and West End.

The first 50 customers from 11.30am on Friday, August 29, will receive free meals to mark the opening while there will be 50 per cent off the food menu throughout the first week until September 4.

Head chef Michele Costa said: “We are thrilled to be opening our doors in Hamilton and to welcome the community to experience everything Sofia by Santa Lucia has to offer.

“These opening offers are our way of celebrating with our first guests and saying thank you for the warm welcome we’ve already received. Sofia is more than just a restaurant, it’s a tribute to the warm hospitality and timeless recipes found in the kitchens of Naples, Rome and beyond.”

General manager Giuseppe D’Aponte added: “We wanted to create a welcoming space, where locals in and around Hamilton can enjoy an authentic taste of Italy right on their doorstep.”

The owners aim for their “highly anticipated” new restaurant “to become a staple in Hamilton’s food scene, serving up fresh, high-quality Italian dishes in a stylish and inviting atmosphere”.

Its menu will feature handmade pasta, woodfired pizza and fine wines, with the owners saying it will “bring the soul of Italy to South Lanarkshire, promising an experience steeped in tradition, passion, and quality”.
