A huge ice rink, which has become a popular fixture in Manchester’s festive months, has confirmed its return to the city for this year.

Skate Manchester will run from Sat 25 Oct – Sun 4 Jan, bringing a fully covered, all-weather rink to Cathedral Gardens.

Ahead of the Christmas period, this year also sees the return of the Halloween special Scare Skate, during which visitors can expect Halloween-themed music, lighting and themed props to ignite the fright factor.

New for this year is the Skate on and Skate off ‘Pit Lane’ available during skating for those needing a break and a hot chocolate or mulled wine, plus a VIP ticket option allowing for a fast-track entry into the rink.

The rink will also offer a variety of skate sessions tailored to meet the needs of all visitors. This includes dedicated quiet and toddler sessions designed for a more relaxed environment, along with discounted tickets and weekly events for students. Organisers will also be working closely with local community groups and charity partners to offer discounted prices for groups and school trips across the season.

Rob Derry, Director at Tamarisk Events, who coordinates the event said: “We’re proud to bring one of the top five largest ice rinks in the UK to Manchester once more, as part of our mission to create magical and sustainable winter events that will set the standard for winter attractions globally. By being partially powered by the grid, Skate Manchester is one of the more environmentally responsible attractions of its kind, allowing visitors to enjoy the magic of skating with a lighter footprint.”

Super early bird tickets for Skate Manchester are available now, with discounted family tickets and student night tickets also available.
