A lot of people genuinely like Meghan Markle. Some have liked her since her time on Suits, others expressly like her because of how she handled herself since she started dating Prince Harry. And those people probably consume everything she does. But there’s no doubt that there are some people tuning in to watch the second season of her show With Love, Meghan, just to see if she would say something about the British royal family. Curiosity, and all of that.
However, the Duchess of Sussex didn’t really go into her experiences with the family during the Netflix lifestyle show. No one should have really expected her to. Instead, the series was mostly her talking about food, parenthood, and what her life is like. However, the press tour for it did have one particular tidbit people latched onto.

During a conversation on The Circuit with Emily Chang on Aug. 26, Markle spoke a little about what it was like to be a Duchess. “Is there an inherent tension in trying to be relatable while also being a duchess?” Chang asked, to which Meghan was quick to reply in the negative.
“No, I don’t find — I’m just being myself. So I think, probably, it was different several years ago where I couldn’t be as vocal,” she said, seemingly in reference to the time before she and Prine Harry stepped back from their role as working royals and moved to the U.S. “I had to wear nude pantyhose all the time,” she added, with a laugh.
“Let’s be honest, that was not very myself. I hadn’t seen pantyhose since the ’80s, when they came in the little egg? That felt a little bit inauthentic, but that’s a silly example,” she added.
Royal experts weren’t pleased with the comment. “I thought Meghan’s anecdote about pantyhose was ludicrous,” royal expert Kinsey Schofield told Fox News Digital. “Insinuating that nude tights are somehow archaic while promoting a TV series where she’s glued to a kitchen being Susie Homemaker,” she added.
Another royal expert, Richard Fitzwilliams told the outlet that he also views the new season of Markle’s lifestyle series as inauthentic. “It is instructive seeing this whilst wading through the vacuous second series of ‘With Love, Meghan.’ It’s trivial, smiley and cringey,” he said about Markle’s comment.
What do the royals think about Markle’s series? “According to my sources, Season 2 is not even on the palace’s radar,” Schofield told Fox News Digital. “It poses no impact on the core four: King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales… When it comes to something as trivial as Meghan Markle making bath salts, the royals have far bigger priorities.”
According to another royal expert, Hilary Fordwich, the royals are “relieved” that the first season of the show wasn’t merely an excuse for Markle to stand in a kitchen and talk about her time in the British royal family. But now that they know it’s not, there’s no reason to watch.
“Senior royals have zero interest in watching Meghan Markle’s show,” Fordwich said. “It’s deemed irrelevant while it avoids nakedly commercializing their royal connections.”
Basically, they’re happy it’s not about them, but they won’t be watching anyway. Or something.
