Bristol City are “very busy in all directions” heading into the final days of the summer transfer window, according to Gerhard Struber, with the Robins boss still hopeful that signings will be made before Monday’s deadline.
The Reds have until 7:00pm on Monday to complete any further incoming or outgoing business before the window shuts for the next four months. So far, City have made three permanent additions to their ranks in the shape of Adam Randell, Joe Lumley, and Emil Riis, and one loan signing in Radek Vitek, who has made the temporary move to BS3 from Manchester United.
Movement out of Ashton Gate this summer has been limited, with Marcus McGuane’s switch to Huddersfield Town and Seb Palmer-Houlden’s transfer to Gillingham the only permanent exits sanctioned at the time of writing. Alongside that pair, Kal Naimsith, Ayman Benarous, Stefan Bajic, and Nahki Wells departed BS3 upon the expiry of their contracts at the end of last season.

In the weeks since Vitek’s arrival has been confirmed, Struber has made no secret of his desire to add another new face or two to his ranks before the September 1 deadline. Though time is running out for such additions to be made, he has trust that those above him at the High Performance Centre will realise his hopes.
“The situation is at the moment that we are very busy in all directions,” the head coach said in his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon. “I would say, the last few days, also yesterday and today, that things are going on, and I’m very hopeful that we realise the one or other player in the next days.
“We know Monday, everything will close, and this means we have to bring tempo in our process, but I would say that we will do it in the next few days.
“I work very hard in this direction to have, in the end, for the club, players on the table that can help us,” Struber continued. “I think in more directions, we need more people in the driver’s seat right now, and go together in this way.
“But my feeling is good and I have big trust in our management and in our owner that we can do it in this way, and I hope we realise it in the next one or two days.

While both Struber and the City support are keen to see signings confirmed before Monday’s deadline, the Robins do have the small matter of a game against Hull City to come before then. The Tigers travel to Ashton Gate on Saturday afternoon for what is the Reds’ final game before the September international break.
Naturally, given the timing of the game, a lot of the focus amongst fans has been diverted away from on the pitch matters and towards the transfer window.
Although Struber is doing what he can to help those above him get any last-minute deals across the line, finishing the Reds’ first block of matches on a winning note remains is where the majority of his attention remains.
“I think this is my task and my duty, that we have in the end, of course, a transfer window, but we have a super important game tomorrow, and we have to do everything for tomorrow,” the Austrian told Bristol Live. “This is my priority one, and next to them, I have to also support my management here to take the right decisions.
“But I think I have a lot of experience in this way, and I can deal with that.”
