Police were today searching “at pace” for a missing Midland teenager after a man was arrested on suspicion of child abduction.

Jazmina, 15, was last seen in the West Midlands at around noon on Tuesday, August 26. She was believed to have travelled by train to the giant Meadowhall shopping complex in Sheffield.

South Yorkshire Police said a Sheffield man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of child abduction on Thursday night, August 28.

He remained in custody awaiting questioning.

The force said officers had carried out extensive searches at a property the teenager was thought to have been staying at but she had not been found.

Police said: “Officers searching for missing girl Jazmina have arrested a man during their enquiries. Fifteen-year-old Jazmina was last seen around 12pm on Tuesday in the West Midlands.

“It is believed she travelled by train to Meadowhall and is still in South Yorkshire. Officers are carrying out enquiries at pace and have searched several properties where they believe Jazmina may have been staying.

“Last night, officers arrested a Sheffield man in his 20s on suspicion of child abduction. He remains in police custody at this time.

“We have yet to locate Jazmina and we are continuing to appeal for information as our search continues.”
