WWE Star Pulled From SmackDown Championship Match, Replacement Confirmed

WWE

A WWE star has been pulled from a championship match set for tonight’s SmackDown, with their replacement being confirmed.

SmackDown today is taking place in Lyon, France ahead of Sunday’s Clash In Paris premium live event.

That also means, like last week’s show in Dublin, Ireland, it will be taking place live hours before it airs on the USA Network in the US, but will be streaming live internationally on Netflix.

Ahead of the show, SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis gave a rundown of the lineup on social media, which included one piece of breaking news.

Aldis announced there’s been a change to the planned WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship match that was set to see Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair defend against Piper Niven and Alba Fyre.

As stated by Aldis, Niven is “unavailable” tonight, so Chelsea Green will step into her place to team up with Fyre.

As of this writing, there have been no further details on the reason for Niven not being able to compete.

She defeated Charlotte Flair on SmackDown last week to essentially earn the title shot for her team, but hasn’t worked the live events in the UK over the past few days.

Also announced for SmackDown is John Cena appearing to address his Clash In Paris match against Logan Paul, as well as Kiana James making her SmackDown debut against Michin.

There will also be a United States Championship match with Solo Sikoa defending against Sami Zayn, in addition to a WWE Tag Team Championship #1 contenders match between the Street Profits and Melo Don’t Miz.
