Reacher star Alan Ritchson has addressed rumours that he could be the next Batman.
The role, which was most recently taken on by Robert Pattinson, is currently up for grabs within James Gunn’s DCU reboot.
Back in 2023, Gunn announced plans for a new Batman movie, titled The Brave and the Bold, which would be completely separate from Pattinson’s existing version.

Since then, speculation regarding who would be wearing the black cape has been rife, with Ritchson rumoured to be in the running.
When asked about being on Gunn’s radar for the movie, the actor told Variety: “Well, it’s not a rumour that James Gunn is a fan. He said it himself. And am I a fan of James Gunn? Absolutely.”

“I don’t want to mislead people. Words have been exchanged about Batman. But I strongly don’t think that Batman is in my future,” he continued.
Despite this, Ritchson hasn’t ruled out a future within the DCU and shared his hopes for a potential appearance later down the line.

“I do think there is something in my future with DC. And I would like that to remain true,” he added.
Meanwhile, Ritchson’s action-thriller Motor City recently had its world premiere at Venice Film Festival. Set in 1970s Detroit, the movie follows John Miller (Ritchson), a formerly incarcerated man hellbent on revenge after being framed by a local gangster.
Speaking about the almost silent movie, the actor said: “It’s a super-unique and super-artistic film. Obviously it’s a huge choice to not rely on dialogue, but I want this to be commercial, I want everybody to enjoy this and it not just to be for a tiny niche audience. And I think we did it.”
