Leeds United were expected to make a signing or two on the final day of the summer transfer window, but things unfortunately did not pan out that way.

Leeds were linked with Manor Solomon among others prior to the 7pm cut-off point, but no deals were announced.

A move for Aston Villa’s Emi Buendia also came to nothing on what was no doubt a hugely frustrating day for Daniel Farke.

And another deal that failed to go through at Elland Road had an impact on fellow Premier League club Chelsea.

One deal that appeared to be on as the hours ticked down on deadline day was a Leeds move for Fulham ace Harry Wilson.

However, Leeds failed in their attempt to sign Wilson, who will instead remain at Fulham until at least the January transfer window.

And in an update provided by The Guardian’s Jacob Steinberg via X, the transfer collapse had a knock-on effect as it means Tyrique George’s move to Fulham also fell through as a result.

“Fulham move to sign Chelsea winger Tyrique George has fallen through at last minute. Harry Wilson staying at Fulham,” Steinberg tweeted.

“This is believed to be down to Harry Wilson staying at Fulham rather than anything at the Chelsea end. They’d given George permission to complete £22m deal.”

Had Wilson finalised his move to Leeds, George would have in turn been able to put pen to paper at Craven Cottage.

Daniel Farke has every right to be angry at 49ers

Leeds were in desperate need of more players on deadline day, with many of their rivals strengthening their ranks.

For all the players linked, in the end no deals were finalised. Sheffield United’s Gus Hamer was linked with Leeds after the 7pm deadline, but there has been no further word on any bids.

After a positive enough start to life back in the Premier League, it is now down to Farke to work with what he has.

However, the German has every right to be angry at his bosses if Leeds go down, as it can be argued he simply wasn’t backed sufficiently enough.
