Birmingham City completed the signing of Jack Robinson on deadline day with the defender signing a two-year dealBirmingham City signing Jack Robinson
Jack Robinson is targeting another tilt at the Premier League after a mad dash to join Birmingham City on deadline day.
The 32-year-old signed for Blues at the eleventh hour to provide defensive cover to Chris Davies and brings a wealth of experience.
In five-and-a-half years at former club Sheffield United, Robinson won automatic promotion to the Premier League, secured two finishes inside the Championship play-offs, and spent two seasons in the top flight itself.
Davies has tried to pack his squad with Championship nous and promotion pedigree and Robinson fits the bill.
Blues’ ambitious owners Knighthead haven’t shied away from the fact they want to earn promotion to the Premier League this season and Robinson is singing off their hymnsheet.
“Getting the club promoted is a successful season,” said Robinson. “In the last six or seven years of my career, I’ve prided myself on helping teams get promoted and I’ve got the experience of playing in the Premier League as well. I think this club has every benefit of challenging to go up. They’ve invested really well this season so it’s going to be an exciting time ahead.”
Robinson was allowed to leave Sheffield United after they agreed a deal to sign Ben Mee. The defender will compete with Blues skipper Christoph Klarer, Phil Neumann and Brighton loanee Eiran Cashin for a place in the starting XI.
“It was a bit of a dash to get here,” Robinson added. “We were short on time but we got things over the line.
“I spoke to the manager and when I found out Birmingham were interested, I thought it was definitely something I could see myself doing.”
