You will have to go back into the archives to put forward a much worse Glasgow derby than the one displayed on Sunday at Ibrox.

Rangers can have their excuses because they are utter dross, under their current manager, Russell Martin, and for quite a long time before that.

But Celtic can’t have such excuses because they are the champions of Scotland, and have been the dominant team on the domestic circuit since the turn of the century.

Joe Hart has played his part in that, following his retirement from the game in 2024, and he couldn’t believe what he was witnessing.

Hart got a taste of what life was like under Rodgers because he played in the Irishman’s first season back as the Celtic manager.

One thing that is always synonymous with Rodgers’ teams is the firepower and strength in attacking talent, but Hart told BBC Radio 5 Live that Celtic went into the Rangers game with ‘zero firepower.’

The legendary goalkeeper thinks that was ‘unheard’ of during his time in Glasgow, as he brought up the names of Daizen Maeda and Adam Idah.

“Watching it, it was difficult,” said Hart. “It was a game where Rangers were definitely there for the taking before the game, but even going into it, the kind of atmosphere around it.

“I wasn’t sure what Daizen was going to be doing. What went on with Adam Idah? Whether he was coming or going. They went in with zero firepower, which is unheard of in my time there.

“I always felt, no matter what was going on, there was going to be goals scored, and if the guys on the pitch weren’t going to do it, then someone would get one off the bench. It was almost a certainty that you could play, and knowing you were getting at least one goal.

“That game threatened to be aggressive. Threatened to be a few tackles. I don’t know how it felt in the stadium. It only threatened to lift off. It then petered out, and I think both teams thought, ‘we are huffing and puffing here, and a good result for both is 0-0.’”

‘Not a good look’ for Celtic after David Datro Fofana rejection

Since that much, Celtic have signed Kelechi Iheanacho as a free agent, but this comes after the drama around David Datro Fofana on transfer deadline day.

It was suggested that Fofana turned down the chance to play for Celtic, opting to join Charlton instead, but that move also collapsed.

And when Hart was told of that news, he stated that ‘it’s not’ a good look to miss out on the Chelsea hitman.

“No, no, it’s not (great for Celtic that Fofana turned them down),” said Hart.
