The best part of three million Britons, many of them pensioners, live in the EU, but time and time again they get ignored. This month pensioners across the UK can look forward to welcome financial relief this autumn. The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has confirmed that the September 2025 Pension Payment will include the regular weekly pension of around £230, along with a one-time £300 Cost-of-Living Boost. This initiative is aimed at helping retirees manage rising living expenses as household costs remain high.
Well what about the massive increase in the cost of living in places like Mallorca? I know the overall image of expats is that we all sit in the sun all day drinking gin and tonic, but for many that is far from the truth and many are struggling to live on their state pensions. Yes, British government now want the expat vote but what are expats getting in return? Nothing.
The September payment is designed to provide extra support to those on fixed incomes. Pensioners will receive their usual weekly State Pension, which for those on the full new pension is around £230 per week.
On top of this, a tax-free payment of £300 will be deposited separately to help cover essentials like heating, groceries, and other everyday bills. This boost reflects the government’s commitment to easing the ongoing financial pressure caused by inflation, but it does look like any British pensioners in Mallorca are going to benefit.
The £300 Cost-of-Living payment will be available to pensioners and individuals receiving certain benefits during the eligibility window. These include State Pension, Pension Credit, Attendance Allowance, Disability Living Allowance, Personal Independence Payment, Income-related Employment and Support Allowance, and Income Support. Those who meet the criteria will not need to apply, as the payment will be processed automatically.
