It appears the trade war between Canada and the U.S. continues to impact traffic on the International Bridge.

In a news release, the International Bridge Administration says there were 96,565 one-way traffic crossings during the month of August.

That’s down 24.7 per cent from the same month in 2024.

Full-fare passenger cars have seen a drop of 26.5 per cent compared to last August, while commuter fares are down 24.3 per cent.

The August 2025 numbers at a glance are:

  • Full-Fare Passenger Cars: 51,906 (26.5 per cent decrease)
  • Commuter Fare: 33,927 (24.3 per cent decrease)
  • Cars Pulling Trailers: 6,221 (15.4 per cent decrease)
  • Commercial Trucks: 4,511 (18.7 per cent decrease)

So far this year, there have been 566,216 crossings which is a drop of 23.5 per cent compared to 2024.
