The weather has turned greyer, but you’re still aching to hit the beach. Fear not, travellers, as one coastal gem recommended by a travel guide could be just the thing to cure your autumn blues. The sophisticated resort of Moraira, only a 30-minute drive from Benidorm, offers the perfect retreat for those wanting to escape the bustling nightlife. Warm weather is practically a certainty, with Moraira enjoying average temperatures of 23°C in September and 20°C in October.
It’s a “charming” and “must visit” destination that recently had many Brits “falling in love” with it, according to travel guide Anastasia Leonova. The brains behind the Benidorm by Ana YouTube channel also said Moraira is a quieter alternative for those who want to escape the large crowds of its popular neighbour – a welcome relief to many tourists who may have been put off by anti-tourism protests sweeping Spain.
In a video on her channel, she called the beach a “pristine stretch of truly golden sand”.
She noted: “There’s always a spot here right by the seashore, even in peak summer months. The beach is famous for its calm waters, making it ideal for families and water sports enthusiasts.
“With numerous beach bars and restaurants, it’s the perfect place to relax and soak up the sun.”
Anastasia drew attention to charming properties situated directly beside the beach that are available for holiday lets – perfect for those dreaming of stepping straight from their accommodation onto the sand within moments. She also provided reassurance regarding costs, explaining: “Prices here are also quite moderate so don’t worry, it’s not going to cost you a fortune.”
Her journey also took in Moraira’s historic castle, which welcomes history enthusiasts free of charge and sits adjacent to the shoreline. The fortress boasts an excellent four out of five stars on TripAdvisor from 159 visitor reviews.
One visitor commented: “The Castillo is a lovely spot in Moraira. The castle is only small but it is right by the beach and lots of bars and restaurants so a nice view of the sea at sunrise or sunset.”

Following her discovery of the delightful coastal town, Anastasia declared: “[It is] definitely worth considering for a lovely weekend [or a] one day getaway. Try out some incredible food, get a boat trip, just have a lovely walk and get to know its history!”
Comments flooded Anastasia’s footage, with one admirer begging her to remain silent about the destination. They wrote: “Please remove this video immediately, this is the Costa Blanca’s best kept secret.”
A different watcher observed: “Moraira looks lovely, seems like a tranquil place and what a lovely beach. If it’s easy to travel to from Benidorm, I may visit for the day.”
A third Brit gave his own recommendation for people eager to visit Moraira, writing: “My wife and I were in Moraira two weeks ago and can recommend it for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday. We can also recommend the Brisa y Mar restaurant on the Calle Mar, and also the Royal Buddha Tandoori restaurant away from the busy seafront in Carretera Moraira a Teulada for excellent food.”
The closest airport to Moraira is in Alicante, where you can fly from Bristol Airport with easyJet, Jet2 and Ryanair.
