Edinburgh Airport was forced to hold flights on Friday evening after an unauthorised drone was detected in nearby airspace.
The small unmanned aircraft was found to be present inside the airport exclusion zone at around 7pm on Friday, September 5.
Police investigated the incident and Airport officials have urged drone operators to be aware of flight restriction zones and “potential penalties”.

Avid plane spotters took to social media to ask if anyone knew what was causing flights to circle over Edinburgh, with some people in the comments divulging that their pilots had confirmed it was a drone in the air.
Edinburgh Airport has since confirmed the cause of the delays.
A spokesperson for Edinburgh Airport said: “Flights were held due to the presence of a drone within the exclusion zone, which police investigated.
“It is imperative that drone operators are aware of their responsibilities and are aware of the flight restriction zones and potential penalties. It is their responsibility to know this.
“The safety of passengers and staff is always paramount.”
Police Scotland has been approached for comment.
