Lyndon Dykes of Birmingham City
Birmingham City striker Lyndon Dykes says he will fight for his place at St Andrew’s after seeing a move to Hibernian fall through.
The Scottish Premier League side were keen to sign the Scotland international, but despite holding talks, no deal materialised.
That has left Dykes now with a difficult battle to become a first-team regular at Blues who have strengthened significantly over the summer.
He has been a regular fixture on the bench so far this term and while he has had minutes on the pitch, starts have been hard to come by.
But talking to Sky Sports after Scotland’s goalless draw with Denmark, the forward says he will continue to give it his all.
“Obviously I’m a Birmingham player, there was talk and looking obviously to go out on loan,” he said.
“Hibs tried to do their best, but it didn’t end up happening. That’s just the way it happens.
“Wherever I’ve been, I give 100 per cent, I train the best I can every day, and everyone knows what I bring.
“I’m a Birmingham player, I’ll fight and hopefully have a good season.”
Hibs boss Malky Mackay said: “We had conversations with Lyndon and Birmingham and we didn’t manage to get there in the end.
“We move on from that. We have a good squad, I’m delighted with the squad we’ve got for the first half of the season.”
