Manchester United star Matheus Cunha has provided a positive update on his injury return on social media a week ahead of the first Manchester derby of the season.

Cunha was forced off in the first-half of United’s Premier League win over Burnley before the international break. It’s believed the Brazilian picked up a hamstring issue.

The 26-year-old was pictured leaving Old Trafford freely after the 3-2 victory but he later withdrew from the Brazil squad for their World Cup qualifiers this month.

“It was hard to lose Cunha and Mason Mount, because Mason Mount played 30 minutes with an injury,” Amorim said. “I’m concerned about that, because they are so important for us. We will see.”

He added: “I don’t know [how are they], I don’t know. We will check them. We need those guys really bad to be really competitive.”

Since the incident happened against the Clarets, Cunha suggested he will be ‘back soon’ on social media. Now, the former Wolves ace has provided another update on his Instagram story.

Sharing an image of him on an exercise bike in a gym, he wrote: “The time is flying,” alongside a clock emoji and dynamite emoji.

Cunha then shared an image of him posing with a UFC wristband saying: ‘obrigado pela moral’, which translated to ‘thanks for the moral’.

It is currently unclear whether he will be available for next week’s Manchester derby against Manchester City.
