The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh are scheduled to be in Japan later this month, a trip that coincides with President Donald Trump‘s historic second state visit to the UK.
The timing of these events means that the royal couple will be noticeably absent from all engagements related to Trump‘s visit, which is slated for September 17 through 19.
Their visit to Japan, taking place between September 18 and 22, aims to celebrate the robust bilateral relationship between the UK and Japan, reports Daily Express UK.
The Duke, 61, and Duchess, 60, will engage in activities in Osaka and Tokyo that reflect shared interests between the two nations, such as youth opportunity, sustainability and innovation, education for the next generation, and women in leadership roles.
During their stay, they plan to visit the UK and Japanese Pavilions at EXPO 2025 in Osaka, Kansai.
During his visit, Edward will present new Regimental Colours to the First Royal Pacific Islands Regiment on behalf of the King and distribute 50th Independence Anniversary King’s Medals. These honors will be bestowed upon individuals who have made significant contributions to Papua New Guinea.
