Three nurses from Northwick Park Hospital have been recognised at this year’s Nursing Times Workforce Awards.
The awards, which celebrate the best in nursing and healthcare across the UK, highlight individuals and teams who are making a real difference in patient care, leadership and innovation.
Neonatal nurse Sister Cecilia Lam has been shortlisted in the Preceptor of the Year category. Cecilia hit the headlines last year when TV presenters Ant and Dec picked her out of a live audience on Saturday Night Takeaway to thank her for her dedication to nursing.
She is joined by colleague Victoria Kinmonth-Gordon, shortlisted for Preceptee of the Year. Victoria gave up a long career as an air hostess to work in the neonatal unit at Northwick Park.
She originally came to the hospital during the pandemic as part of Project Wingman, when grounded airline staff volunteered their time to run pop-up lounges for NHS staff.
After 26 years in aviation, Victoria decided to return to her first career choice and retrain in nursing.
“A lot of the skills I learnt in the industry were transferable,” says the nursing associate who has spent the past five years working with premature babies.
The third finalist is Tessy Chacko, shortlisted in the Best Workforce Technology category, which recognises staff who have developed or championed innovative approaches to support healthcare teams.
The Nursing Times Workforce Awards 2025 will be held later this year in London, where winners will be announced across more than 20 categories.
