Northern Ireland have the daunting task of taking on Germany in their second qualifier for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

After their impressive win against Luxembourg last week, they sit at the top of Group A in qualifying, with Slovakia sitting in second.

Germany are currently at the bottom of the table, after a shock 2-0 loss in Bratislava, but are guaranteed a spot in the play-offs.

It is 20 years since that famous night in Windsor Park when David Healy conquered England, so travelling fans can hope that history will repeat itself in the ReineEnergieStadion.

Michael O’Neill’s charges may go into this match with the wind in their sails, but it is still a massive ask for them to topple the four-time world champions of Germany, who boast a very talented squad of players, including Florian Wirtz, Leon Goretzka and Antonio Rüdiger.

If Northern Ireland win today, then they can start to dream about landing automatic qualification for the World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the USA, and appearing at their first tournament since their Euro 2016 in France.
