Navratilova labels Alcaraz as ‘practically unbeatable’

“Alcaraz just brings his best when it matters the most,” says Martina Navratilova on Sky.

“I think he doesn’t feel the pressure agasint Sinner because he knows he has to play well and if he loses, it’s okay.

“Carlos has just got a slightly bigger game than Jannik, and when it cooks he is practically unbeatable.

“The numbers don’t lie, Alcaraz was better across the board,” she added.

“I’ve never seen Alcaraz serve like that. You think about the great servers in the game, and I now have to put Alcaraz in that category,” says Tim Henman on Sky.

“Against one of the great returners (Sinner), Alcaraz’s serve was absolutely phenomenal. He was able to hit his spots with such pace and consistency.

“He gave Sinner so few opportunities to get into those service games, and it gave Alcaraz the opportunity to play with even more freedom, unleashing.

“You can see the joy of that performance. It was complete,” he adds.

“Wow, I just wanted to start with Jannik. It’s unbelievable what you’re doing the whole season, every tournament you’re playing, I’ve seen you more than my family!” says Carlos Alcaraz.

“Hello everyone. First of all I’d like to start with Carlos and the whole team, you’re doing amazing, congratulations, I know a lot of hard work went behind this performance. They were better than me, enjoy, it’s a great moment,” says Jannie Sinner on stage.

“Then of course, my team, thanks for supporting and understanding me, working hard, we know how much dedication we put in, it’s been an incredible season.

“I’m super happy to share this moment with you, with my family, with all the people I love. I tried my best today, I couldn’t do more. Thanks for the support.

“Of course, I’d like to thank everyone who makes this place very special. It has been a very long three weeks, you’re doing an amazing job and I can’t wait to come back next year.

“Last thing, you guys [fans] are amazing. Not only the fans, but starting from much earlier you make this place so special. Everyone is here, I’m happy to stand here on the court. We try our best to make this the best show possible,” he adds as he finishes before receiving the runner-up trophy.
