A body has been found on Princes Street in Edinburgh.
Emergency services were called to the busy street after the alarm was raised at around 9.10am on Monday. Officers were responding to reports that the body of a man had been discovered.
An image shared with Edinburgh Live this morning showed a cordon erected from the corner of Frederick Street and stretching towards the Apple Store opposite the entrance to Waverley Station.
Workers could be seen passing the taped off area during rush hour and a local reported seeing officers with blue gloves moving back and forth from a shop front.
It is understood one lane of Princes Street east bound has also been closed by police.
The death is currently being treated as unexplained. Officers say their enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9.10am on Monday, September 8, the body of a man was found on Princes Street, Edinburgh.
“The death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
