A grenade was found during a police raid on a Bristol home.

Officers carried out a warrant at a property off Whitchurch Lane in Bishopsworth on Monday, September 8.

A suspected grenade was found at the property, as well as a number of other items, a police spokesperson said.

A cordon was established around the area following the dramatic discovery.

Bomb disposal teams were called in at around 3.30pm to assess the items and found them to be inactive.

The Explosive Ordinance Disposal team took all of the items away for disposal.

A man in his 50s has been arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a firearm without a certificate and remains in police custody.

Avon and Somerset Police say there is no wider risk to the public and the cordon has since been removed.
